Icon 02 – Automotive

Car

Automotive is represented by the icon of a car. A nod to KITT from Knight Rider – the glowing scanner light of the talking car sweeps back and forth across its front. The intelligent car of the eighties is today's reality of autonomous driving.

Main ideas

The icon is general on purpose – a viewer can imagine more fields under it. The terms under the icon name some of them:

  1. AUTOMOTIVE – automotive
  2. DOPRAVA – transport
  3. ELEKTROMOBILITA – electromobility
  4. AUTONOMNÍ ŘÍZENÍ – autonomous driving

The terms and their order are easy to change in the animation.

How the icon parts work

Every icon follows the same 12-second timeline, so the parts can be swapped freely:

  1. [1 s] a blinking cursor – the underscore the icon grows from (bottom left if possible)
  2. [2 s] the icon is drawn in 2D
  3. [2.5 s] the icon turns around the vertical axis and becomes 3D – the side walls extrude into depth
  4. [2.5 s] the primary term is typed, again starting from the underscore
  5. [2.5 s] the icon animation, the terms rotate downwards one after another
  6. [1 s] the icon animation goes on and fades to black

The first term is the most important one and stays on the screen longest. The terms are in Czech, as the display spoke to visitors of the Czech Open Day.
